BURSARY OVERVIEW

BASF South Africa (Pty) Ltd invites qualifying students to submit applications for the Bursary Programme 2024.

Closing date: 08 January 2024

Applicants should have no criminal record in any country and be South African citizens, among other requirements as outlined below.

ABOUT BASF SOUTH AFRICA

BASF is the world’s leading chemical company offering intelligent solutions for customers and for a sustainable future.

The company is a major supplier of chemicals, plastics and agricultural products, fine chemicals and dispersions, and provides global technical support and marketing services for its products locally.

To support the advancement of women in science, the BASF South Africa Trust offers full cost bursaries to black female South Africans (in terms of the BBBEE codes) who are financially disadvantaged and who have, strong academic records.

WHAT THE BASF BURSARY COVERS

The bursary will provide for the following expenses:

  1. Tuition fees,
  2. Textbooks,
  3. Monthly stipend, and
  4. Accommodation.

The bursary is only available from the second year of study (i.e. studying for the second or third year in 2024).

The following disciplines are accepted for bursary support in 2024: Chemistry, Sciences and Engineering

REQUIREMENTS AND ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying. (Please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to the application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Black female student (in terms of the BBBEE codes )
  • Registered to study in one of the aforementioned fields of study

  • From a financially disadvantaged background (meet NFSAS funding requirements)
  • Have a strong academic record
  • Studying at a recognised University in South Africa

  • Applicants should have no criminal record in any country
  • Except NSFAS funding, applicants should not have received another scholarship, bursary, grant, etc for the 2024 academic year.

HOW TO APPLY

Please ensure all required documents are submitted to be eligible for the bursary:

  • A CV (max 3 pages)
  • A 2-page essay (Microsoft Word/PDF format; 12pt font with 1.5 line spacing) you have written on:
    “The current and future state of my field of study, how I will contribute when I graduate, and why I should receive financial support to study in this field.”

The following additional certified documents are required:

➢ Matric results and certified academic record.
➢ Certified ID document
➢ Parent/guardian proof of income (pay slip, audited financial statements, sworn affidavit for self-employed or unemployed parent/guardian).

Decisions regarding the award of bursaries to short-listed candidates will be made after receipt of a certified academic record showing 2023 final results which should be submitted to [email protected] by 08 January 2024.
