Africa Policy Research Institute (APRI) invites qualifying professionals to apply for the vacancy: Research intern.

Closing date: 15 November 2023

  • Location: Berlin, Germany / Remote
  • Starting date: 01 December 2023

Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension

ABOUT APRI

APRI – Africa Policy Research Institute is a Berlin-based, independent, non-partisan policy institute researching key policy issues affecting the African continent.

APRI has three main program areas: economy & society, technology, and climate change. The Economy and Society Program seeks to understand things as they are – before looking for how to improve them.

It focuses on how African bureaucracies work and, why policymakers make the choices they make, the constraints governments and private sector actors face.

We want to understand how partners can support them without unnecessarily constraining their policy space.

INTERNSHIP BACKGROUND

APRI seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic research intern to support and contribute to its work under the Economy and Society Program.

The ideal candidate will have research and project support experience, good knowledge, and an interest in socio-economic issues affecting Africa.

The successful candidate will support the team in Berlin on all aspects of the project and contribute to content development, including research and policy outputs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide research, writing, data analysis and editing support on the various topics of the program;
  • Assist the organisation of conferences, workshops, webinars, and other events;

  • Collaborate on the development and execution of online content (images, infographics, factsheets, videos, blogs etc.);
  • Provide administrative and general support to the project team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed or enrolled in graduate studies in a relevant social science field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with a strong interest and enthusiasm in Africa’s Economy and Society space;

  • Excellent writing skills and command of English (written and spoken);
  • Self-starter who can work independently; is reliable and flexible; knows how to organise and prioritise tasks;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
