Nova Pioneer is looking for a superstar Apprentice Teacher to teach Pre-Primary grades at the Ormonde Primary Campus!

Job Title: Facilities Apprentice (Ormonde Primary)
Location: Ormonde, Gauteng, South Africa

This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring teacher who is currently or going in the 3rd or 4th year of their BEd qualification or completing their PGCE in 2023 to join a team deeply committed to the development of our people and our children.

You will partner with your Resident Teacher to empower students using an enquiry-based learning approach and be a part of an innovative network of schools that is developing generations of innovators and leaders who will shape the African Century.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Facilities Apprentice, you will be specifically responsible for the following:

  • Inspect the building and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions in need of repair.
  • Prepare a schedule for maintenance matters with the operations team and agree when work will be carried out.
  • Perform routine building maintenance tasks in a timely manner.

  • Minimize maintenance disruptions to the running of the school.
  • Adequately respond to maintenance requests.
  • Ensure that all building management equipment has the appropriate policy and standard level.
  • Respond adequately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise
  • Health and Safety team member

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed Grade 12; ideally you will have also completed a Technical Diploma or Certificate in plumbing/electrical
  • Knowledge of General Safety principles
  • Preferred work experience includes:
    • Building/construction 3 years
    • Gardening 2-3 years
    • General maintenance duties 3 years
