JOB PURPOSE

The Trainer reports directly to the Lead: Regulatory Training, and is responsible for facilitating all formal and on-the-job regulatory training for the Airline and will ensure training is in accordance with the regulatory standards. 

To this extent, the Trainer conducts training, accredited assessment and evaluations in line with legislative and company requirements.

Furthermore, the role is required to perform related tasks including research and curriculum development. 

Lastly, as part of the Operations team, the role will be required to support the optimization of the Aviation Training function by participating in improvement initiatives within the area of responsibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the Aviation Training strategy and plan relevant to own work outputs
  • Implements strategy within own area of responsibility
  • Provides recommendations to support the implementation of the Regulatory Training portfolio

  • Contributes to the budget management and containment of costs
  • Applies cost saving initiatives continuously
  • Provides recommendations on profitability

  • Deliver on initiatives in alignment with business requirements within the budget specifically aligned to Aviation Training initiatives
  • Ensure all costs are responsibly managed in own sphere of influence (telephone costs, printing costs, leave management etc.)

  • Engage in trend analysis to identify future needs, services required, market offering and available new products and engage in discussions about integration and adoption of these into strategies and plans with business

  • Oversees the correct application of processes and systems in area of responsibility
  • Utilises resources in area of responsibility/own area of work in a time and cost effective manner
  • Utilises technology to enhance internal and external customer expectations and implement new technology, systems and or procedures

  • Executes work outputs according to customer requirements
  • Adheres to Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems
  • Share key information with internal stakeholders to assist with regular, irregular and timeous reporting requirements

  • Participates in continuous optimisation programmes, projects and initiatives
  • Assist with planning of training courses and administration thereof in accordance with training schedule

  • Prepare for training courses according to training schedule including maintenance of all training aids, materials and equipment
  • Develop training curriculum to address identified needs and close performance gaps

  • Develop learning materials and guides, trainer guides, visual aids and help prompts Update course material as and when required and provide recommendations for material changes /updates
  • Conduct operations training for all divisions

  • Conduct post course assessments as well as refreshers and ad-hoc workshops
  • Ensure assessment instruments are valid, authentic current and sufficient
  • Compile model answers
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments

  • Plan and conduct regular on the job assessment, performance improvement assessments and evaluation reports
  • Determine competency through evaluation processes and conduct re-writes
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners and line management

  • Engage in and promote assessment practices
  • Identify learners requiring support pro–actively and sensitively
  • Provide counselling for learners with problems
  • Provide specialised tutoring for those with learning difficulties

  • Interact with management about learner progress
  • Ensure effective needs analysis are conducted
  • Link performance solutions with business objectives

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • A relevant 3 year Diploma at NQF level 6 and/or 4 years’ experience in Regulatory Training environment
  • A current SACAA Cabin Safety Instructor accreditation certificate

  • A current SACAA Cabin Designated Examiner accreditation certificate
  • A current SACAA Dangerous Goods Group A Instructor accreditation certificate will be an advantage

  • A current SACAA Aviation Security Instructor accreditation certificate will be an advantage
  • Certified assessor training at NQF level 5
  • Facilitation Qualification at NQF level 6 

  • Moderator training at NQF level 6 will be an advantage
  • Valid unendorsed driver’s license is essential
