Valcare NPC: Communications Internship Programme 2023

Valcare NPC is looking for an inspired and ambitious intern to join their Communication department.

• Closing date: 17 May 2023
• Duration: 3 months, with the possibility for an extension of up to 6 months

• Working hours: Flexi-time, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 17:00. The intern is expected to work at least 20 hours per week.

• Stipend: A stipend of R3000 will be provided for transport and communication costs.
• Location: On-site at Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter keen on learning more about communications and the non-profit sector while excelling in on-the-job tasks.

If you’re studying communications, journalism, media studies, and/or marketing or have recently completed your degree in one (or more) of these areas, you are invited to apply.

Our internship offers valuable experience in areas such as content writing, creative writing, social media management, web management, design, marketing, and PR.

While all these areas will be covered, we will also help develop the focus areas of the selected candidate’s choosing.

Duties and responsibilities

• Conduct research and brainstorm opportunities related to external communications and branding.
• Write, edit, and upload text and multimedia content, including feature articles and interviews, to online communication platforms

• Support the communication team with social media strategies, audits, plans and outputs
• Craft press releases

• Design templates for documents based our brand guide
• Other relevant duties as assigned

We’re looking for a candidate with:

• Active enrolment in or completion of a university programme in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or Media Studies
• Excellent written and oral English skills (non-negotiable)

• Strong communications skills: excellent listening skills and empathy, ability to write clearly and concisely

• Proficiency in Google Suite and other related software
• Advanced knowledge of Canva
