Sappi South Africa is hiring and invites applications for the vacant post of Gas Producer Helper Chemical.

Location: Ngodwana Mill

Sappi are on the lookout for a Gas Producer Helper – Chemical to ensure all outside equipment and processes are fully utilized and functional and to ensure safe execution of outside activities. 

As a Gas Producer Helper – Chemicalyou will be responsible for:

  • Ensure the plant is running according to required rate and quality specifications
  • Check auxiliary equipment once per shift

  • Conduct ash dips twice per shift
  • Fill coal bunkers twice per shift
  • Ensure samples are analysed daily
  • Drain dust cyclones twice per shift

  • Ensure the tar tanker is loaded when the tar storage tank is full
  • Assist with the start-up and shut down of the plant when necessary
  • Performs other duties as directed by the process controller / shift superintendent

  • Conduct ash dips as and when necessary
  • Do cross directional poking when required
  • Ensure ash pans and seals are full of water.

  • Checks on a shift basis that all systems that keep ash pans and seals full of water and are in sound working order.

  • Identify abnormal / emergency plant conditions and take corrective action according to standards (BOP)
  • Isolate plant as required

  • Perform house keeping with the team – focus on area of responsibility
  • Any other ad hoc requests from shift superintendent / production manager

What are we looking for?

  • Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science or N3 Pulp and Paper
  • 0-1 Year Production Environment
