Sappi South Africa is hiring and invites applications for the vacant post of Gas Producer Helper Chemical.
Location: Ngodwana Mill
Sappi are on the lookout for a Gas Producer Helper – Chemical to ensure all outside equipment and processes are fully utilized and functional and to ensure safe execution of outside activities.Â
As a Gas Producer Helper – Chemical, you will be responsible for:
- Ensure the plant is running according to required rate and quality specifications
- Check auxiliary equipment once per shift
- Conduct ash dips twice per shift
- Fill coal bunkers twice per shift
- Ensure samples are analysed daily
- Drain dust cyclones twice per shift
- Ensure the tar tanker is loaded when the tar storage tank is full
- Assist with the start-up and shut down of the plant when necessary
- Performs other duties as directed by the process controller / shift superintendent
- Conduct ash dips as and when necessary
- Do cross directional poking when required
- Ensure ash pans and seals are full of water.
- Checks on a shift basis that all systems that keep ash pans and seals full of water and are in sound working order.
- Identify abnormal / emergency plant conditions and take corrective action according to standards (BOP)
- Isolate plant as required
- Perform house keeping with the team – focus on area of responsibility
- Any other ad hoc requests from shift superintendent / production manager
What are we looking for?
- Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science or N3 Pulp and Paper
- 0-1 Year Production Environment
