Transnet is hiring a Port Worker

Transnet Operations division is hiring and invites applications for the post of Port Worker (non-permanent position).

Location : Port Elizabeth

Position Purpose: The provision of labour as directed by Supervisor in order to ensure a safe and clean working environment or optimized cargo operation.

Position outputs:

• Cleaning of operational equipment (such as ship to shore cranes windows, cranes’ cabins etc. )
• Inspection of container condition
• Reefer monitoring operation

• Opening and Closing of rail wagons twist locks
• Loading, off loading and stacking of cargo in compliance of standard operating procedures
• Hooking / unhooking

• Tarping / untarping where applicable
• Place / remove dunnage
• Cleaning of operational areas, rail trucks, plant, workshops, offices, sheds and ablution facilities as instructed

• Complete applicable documentation such as accident reports
• Identification of correct cargo handling equipment / gear

Qualifications & Experience:

Matric / NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 2 years working experience as Port Worker or General Worker

Competencies:

• Terminal Layout
• Safety
• Stack Positions

Skills Required:

• Attention to detail
• Cleanliness
• Adhering to instructions
