Gradesmatch is looking for recent graduates in BSc (Eng) Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Electrical Engineering who might be interested in an internship role.

The minimum requirement is that the students need to have completed their undergraduate studies by December 2022, with a 60% average.

The Opportunity

Graduates have the opportunity to join the Engineering Department’s dynamic team of energy solution seekers.

Your role will consist of carrying out the activities, responsibilities, and duties of the Trainee Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications and competencies:

  • BSc (Eng) / BEng degree holders who completed studies strictly in 2022 in the following fields:
  • Mechanical engineering,
  • Industrial engineering, or

  • Electrical engineering
  • Graduated with a GPA of 60%
  • Must be a South African citizen

  • No working experience required
  • Competencies include:
  • Effective technical skills

  • Assessing project requirements
  • Measuring the performance of mechanical components and devices
  • Using computer·aided design/modelling software (i.e. Autodesk INVENTOR and

AUTOCAD)

  • Liaising with internal customers, external customers and suppliers regarding technical issues
  • Undertaking relevant research

  • Presenting designs/ideas to managers and clients
  • Testing, evaluating, modifying, and re·testing products.
  • Writing monthly progress reports, manuals, and other relevant documentation

  • Analysing and interpreting complex data
  • Formulating and presenting internal technical courses
  • Working towards professional registration with ECSA

  • An ability to work cross-functionally to ensure application processing consistency and efficiency
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills under ambiguous circumstances

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Someone with an openness to collaboration and Teamwork

  • High level of computer literacy
  • Responsibilities/accountabilities as part of the training program:
  • SHERQ MANAGEMENT (1SO9001, 1SO14001, OHSAS18001)

  • Responsible for adhering to the requirements of the abovementioned systems as directed by the SHEQ Management System (which includes relevant legislation, Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions, specifications, etc.)

  • Ensure that Quality Assurance is confirmed in every aspect, especially in the area of documentation control.

  • Ensures compliance with all standards for Safety, Environmental, Work Procedures and Quality
  • Implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and defective or damaged parts, assess cost and responsibility.

  • Assurance and Quality Control systems as adopted by the High Voltage Division.

Location

Johannesburg East. The opportunity strictly requires you to be based in Johannesburg, as it is an in-person role.
