TRAFFIC TRAINING COLLEGE, PIETERMARITZBURG
UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE TRAFFIC OFFICER’S DIPLOMA, SUCCESSFUL
CANDIDATES MUST BE PREPARED TO BE PLACED AT ANY OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC INSPECTORATE STATIONS ACROSS THE
KWAZULU-NATAL PROVINCE
R151 884 PER ANNUM (SALARY LEVEL 4)
REQUIREMENTS:
- State expense to determine fitness before confirmation of appointment; plus
- Applicants must be under the age of 35 on the closing date of the advert; plus
- Applicants must be a South African Citizen or a Permanent Resident: plus
- Applicants must be a fit and proper person.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS TRAINING AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
I Implement planned and approved traffic law enforcement activities.
Ensure the free flow of traffic through point duty and trafic control at congested areas.
Coordinate activities at and safeguard accident scenes, identify and advise management on hazardous locations.
Participate in traffic policing projects and speed testing operations.
Examine Drivers’ Licences and Motor Vehicles and monitor compliance at Driver Licence Testing Centres (DLTC) and Vehicle Testing Stations (VTS): –
Execute arrests under relevant Acts, directives and procedures and attend court proceedings and give
Escort abnormal vehicles and loads to ensure the safe movement thereof and coordinate oveload control management (includes goods and passengers).
KEY PEREORMANCE AREAS CONTINUED:
- -roadworthy tests.
- -Monitor compliance of DLTC and VTS.
- -Provide visible Traffic Control / Policing and promote / ensure crime prevention activities:
- Perform all administrative activities and related duties
Assist in planning visible traffic policing by providing assistance to motorists and executing escort duties.
Participate in roadblocks and/or special law enforcement operations.
Maintain effective administrative procedures.
Patrolling of roads in dedicated areas and warn motorists at hazardous locations (i.e. damaged road surfaces, breakdown
of vehicles).
Compliance with activities as outlined in the operational plans.
Participate in Human Resource Development Programs.
Promote effecive and efficient service delivery to clients.
Maintain professional corporate image of Traffic Law Enforcement.
